2019 SUP Wish List
Some people make resolutions for the New Year - I make a wish list. I’m a big believer in always having something to look forward to on the calendar whether it’s a vacation, race, local concert, a sporting event - I could go on and on! Local events are easy to plan and reserve on the calendar, but travel requires a bit of foresight. My 2019 wish list is long and ambitious, which makes it a true wish list! Some items are already checked off with plans set and some may roll over to 2020, but I’ll be writing about any I check off in 2019!
2019 Wish List
SUP at least twice a month in Chicago.
This may seem like a no brainer, but I’m already looking at the January forecast and wondering when I’ll squeeze in my second SUP session this month! This is all dependent on weather, but I’m determined. I’ll be keeping track on Instagram, so follow along!
SUP somewhere new at least once a month in Chicago.
Believe it or not, there are so many waterways to explore in Chicago with my paddle board. Even if I launch from the same place, my route can vary tremendously. It’s easy to continue going to familiar places, but I want to expand my local horizons this year.
Teach yoga on vacation.
This one is already planned for April when I’ll be teaching yoga at a resort in Jamaica! Of course the resort has stand up paddle boards and I’m sure the beach crew will be very familiar with me by the end of the week. Thanks to Fit Bodies, Inc for the opportunity!
Run 13.1 miles from Brooklyn to Central Park.
This one is scheduled for March! I somehow hit the lottery with an entry for the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon. Although my preference is to run shorter races at faster times, I couldn’t pass up the chance to participate in this race.
SUP Yoga Certification.
I’m hoping to get certified as a beginner SUP and SUP yoga instructor by early summer so I can teach classes on Lake Michigan in Chicago! I’m looking at some local certifications and also one in San Diego and Toronto. Timing will likely decide my choice, but I’m very excited to merge my love of SUP and yoga!
SUP Travel
Lake Tahoe, Banff, Vancouver, and Hawaii are at the top of my SUP travel wish list. Considering I do have a full-time job, we’ll see how many of these get checked off my list. In addition to writing about my personal experiences in these locations, I’ll be writing wish list feature posts sharing the research I do before deciding on stand up paddle board trips!
Midwest SUP Travel
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is gonna happen this year. It’s a 6 hour drive from Chicago to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and would be a perfect long weekend trip. I’m also toying with the goal of paddling all the Great Lakes - this would be a good start! The Great Lakes is a bigger wish list item that might take a few years to complete.
Write more blog posts.
This goal is separate from my SUP trip recaps. I’ll be writing more about all the gear required for owning a stand up paddle board along with some optional accessories. I’ll also be expanding my yoga posts! I’m also considering private SUP, yoga and SUP yoga lessons - eventually.
Canada Goose Coat
Alright, this one is completely unrelated and ridiculous, but this cold weather is making me want one. Did you know the fur in their hoods have a wire?!?!? I’m a big fan of fur-trimmed hoods. I can’t pull the trigger to invest in one, but hey, you never know who reads my blog!
As you can see, my wish list makes for a busy year and these are only the big items. Even if I don’t check off each one - I do have a full-time job and a fur baby - it’s fun to dream. I’m very excited for 2019 and all the opportunities for travel, SUP, and exploring.
